PaintShop Pro – is a new version coming soon?

Many loyal users, myself included, of Corel PaintShop Pro are wondering: Will there be a new version after PaintShop Pro 2023? Or is this the end, and one of the oldest graphics programs on the market will quietly disappear? So far, there has been no official announcement of a “PaintShop Pro 2025” or even a 2026 version. The official product page still promotes the current 2023 release – and has been doing so for quite a while now, which understandably fuels a certain level of uncertainty within the software’s fan base.

Things are not entirely quiet at Corel or its parent company Alludo, though. The company’s website currently hosts a beta program, explicitly looking for testers for “Next Generation” versions of PaintShop Pro. This could mean that development is ongoing, even if it is not yet clear when and to what extent a major update will appear. However, there is also a strong likelihood that the beta program is more focused on CorelDRAW, and that the rest of the text has simply remained unchanged from previous years.

Community rumors and speculation

In forums and communities like ScrapbookCampus or Reddit, the future of PaintShop Pro is a hot topic. Some moderators say they know nothing about a version after 2023, while others speculate that Corel may abandon the traditional yearly release cycle and instead focus on smaller, incremental updates. The discussion around AI-driven features is also polarizing: some users would welcome more automation, while others fear the software might become overloaded.

What’s next for PaintShop Pro?

From today’s perspective, there are good reasons to believe that PaintShop Pro will not be discontinued immediately and will continue to be offered for quite some time. However, it remains unclear if and when an official “major” version will be announced. For those who want to stay informed, it’s worth keeping an eye on the official PaintShop Pro website and Alludo’s news pages.

Tip: If you always want to stay up to date, you can sign up for the beta program or subscribe to the official channels. That way you won’t miss any news about PaintShop Pro.

Conclusion: PaintShop Pro 2023 remains the current version, and no new release has been confirmed so far. Personally, I wouldn’t be too optimistic that much more is coming, but perhaps Alludo will surprise us with an entirely new PaintShop Pro version and a truly comprehensive update. I would be surprised, but nothing is impossible. PaintShop Pro 2023 itself still works smoothly with current versions of Windows and already offers far more features than I – and certainly many other users – really need.
